Crisis Intervention

Clay Academy’s Crisis Interventionist spends a great deal of time getting to know the students and building positive relationships with them.  This is done by showing an interest in their lives when they are in a good place as opposed to just interacting with them when they are in crisis or having behavior problems.  The interventionist mentors appropriate behavior at all times and maintains optimal credibility in their eyes.  There needs to be a balance between nurturing, understanding, empathy, firmness and accountability in order to assist students in the transition process of becoming an engaged student and productive member of the school community and society as a whole.
